Bring on the cake!!
Date Posted: October 26, 2005

I know a lot of ministers who despise weddings. They just don't find any joy in performing a marriage ceremony.

I, however, thoroughly enjoy weddings...they are such a delightful event. I enjoy the pre-marital counseling...the anticipation of the grand event...the decor and the candles...and I really get into the food at the wedding reception. Bring on the cake!!

Weddings in Jesus' day were even more fun...because the celebration lasted for an entire week! And although Jesus was on a mission to save the world - He still took time to attend a wedding at Cana and participated in the festivities. He danced, He sang, He ate, He laughed, He rejoiced! In fact, He performed his first miracle at that wedding.

John 2:11 reads..."This miracle at Cana in Galilee was Jesus' first public demonstration of His heaven-sent power..." (Living Bible)

Everyone at the Cana wedding was excited because of the power God displayed. It was this initial miracle that caused His disciples to believe that Jesus really was the Messiah!

You know, what's so sad is that people today are looking everywhere EXCEPT to God for excitement. We somehow expect God to be dull and boring. But just as the wine that Jesus made was the absolute best...so life with Him is the best!

May His church never be known as a place that is dull, boring and lifeless...but a place that is filled with His love, joy and excitement!

Expect and accept God's best today and enjoy a full, exciting life!!
