"Did you bring your sacrifice today?"
Date Posted: June 28, 2006

"Let us continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by proclaiming the glory of His name. Don't forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God." - Hebrews 13:15-16

"Did you get anything out of church today?"

Ever heard that question asked after a Sunday morning church service? Sadly, that very comment is heard in many cars between the church service and Sunday lunch. In many situations, the sermon may not have been well prepared or the worship service may not have been planned so that worshipers have a sense of what they are to do in light of what they've just sung, prayed or heard.

But no matter how poor a sermon or service might be - the pastor and worship leader are not entirely to blame.

When we enter the worship center on Sunday morning, we cannot expect to simply take...or as I mentioned this past Sunday..."Sit - Soak - and Sour!". By definition, those who come to worship have something to give. To worship means to "offer worth" to the object of their worship. Each of us has the responsibility to offer the sacrifice of praise!

We may not leave the church having gotten much out of it - - but the question we ned to ask ourselves is this: In our singing, praying, listening, and thinking - - did we offer the Lord a gift?

What did HE get out of the service?

"We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to You the sacrifices of thanksgiving.
And we offer up to You the sacrifices of joy."
