Forgiveness can be sweeter!
Date Posted: July 20, 2005

Have you ever been deeply hurt by someone? Do bitterness and anger begin to surface when you remember that incident?
Maybe the wound came from a parent.
Maybe it came from another relative or a spouse.
Or possibly the hurt even came from a fellow church member.

If you're like me (and I'm pretty sure you are) it's natural and easy to react with bitterness, anger, hatred, and maybe even a desire to 'get even'!

But, whoa...put the brakes on! We're not to react with what comes natural...we're to react un-naturally!! That's the challenge for those of us who want to live God's way. And let's be honest...no one ever wants to forgive someone who has wounded them.

Now, we choose to forgive - not because it will make us feel better - although it probably will; but one thing ought to motivate us and propel us toward a forgiving attitude and that is that God in Christ was willing to forgive us.

"You must make allowances for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others." - Colossians 3:13 (NLT)

If that doesn't move us toward a forgiving spirit...nothing will!

Reach out ... touch ... embrace ... forgive ... and shine like Jesus!
