The Focus

Monday was Memorial Day...it's a day in which we gratefully remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. I was reminded of the many men and women who have died for the love of this country as my family and I drove through the V.A. Cemetary in Johnson City Monday afternoon. We saw young families standing at the graves of their grandparents. We observed a couple kneeling at the grave of their son. We talked to a young soldier who was looking for a grave of a good friend. The freedoms we now enjoy and often take for granted have been bought with their blood. Gratefully...we remember them.
There have also been men and women down through the centuries who have given their lives in defense of the fath, and who have spent their lives preserving the faith. Gratefully...we remember them.
For the Christian...each and every Sunday is a Memorial Day as we gather around the communion 'memorial' table, recalling how Jesus Christ died for us so that we could live eternally. Each time we partake of communion...as we eat the bread and as we drink from the cup...Gratefully...we remember Him!
Prayer:
Father, each time we reflect on the awesome sacrifice of Jesus Christ - we thank You and praise You! We pray that our lives will reflect and honor the name of Your Son. Amen!
He serves as the Senior Pastor with southwest Virginia church... a loving church family in Abingdon.
He and his wife Sharon have been married for over 27 years and are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, one son-in-law, and two precious grandchildren, the second arrived arrived on the scene in September 2004!!
