HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
2006 has arrived!!
Did you make any New Year's resolutions?
In the past couple of weeks I've heard folks say...
"I'm going to lose 60 lbs. in 2006."
"I'm not going to eat any chocolate in 2006." (Yeah...right!! Like that's going to happen!!)
"I'm going to start an exercise program in 2006."
My guess is... most of these have been broken already (as I munch on a piece of Dove dark chocolate!!)
So, how 'bout making some resolutions that you've probably heard before...but are most definitely worth the effort.
Read the Bible from beginning to end this year.
Mend a broken relationship. Forgive those whom you need to forgive.
Reach out to your neighbors by serving them in some practical way.
If you're married...be sure to take your spouse on some dates during the year. (Yes, Sharon, I realize I need to pay attention to this one!!)
Pray more often. Bring your thoughts, praises, concerns, and requests to God throughout each day.
Take a vacation. (1/4 of all Americans do not take a vacation). Even God rested on the seventh day!!
Contact a friend or relative you haven't heard from in a long time.
Share the Gospel with someone who doesn't know Christ...that's what you're on this earth to do!
These resolutions might be difficult to commit to at times...but what a difference they will make in your life and in the lives of others.
May your year of 2006 be filled with abundant blessings from our Almighty God!!
He serves as the Senior Pastor with southwest Virginia church... a loving church family in Abingdon.
He and his wife Sharon have been married for over 27 years and are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, one son-in-law, and two precious grandchildren, the second arrived arrived on the scene in September 2004!!
