Isn't it nice to lend a hand?
Date Posted: February 18, 2004

Here at Central Christian Church, during the month of February, we are recognizing and honoring our many, many wonderful ministry team volunteers who serve Christ and His church faithfully throughout the year. During the morning worship services we have had our volunteers stand and we applaud their sacrificial service...and this coming Friday evening we are honoring our volunteers and their families with a delicious meal, inspiring music & speaker, and even a gift of appreciation.

To encourage others to get plugged into ministry and becoming involved in 'serving' we are hosting the annual MINISTRY EXPO on Sunday morning as the various ministry teams of CCC will have displays exhibited in the Fellowship Hall and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and enlist new servants!

In fact, the Communion service on Sunday morning will even focus on the call that Jesus gives us as His followers to serve one another. He modeled that service on the evening just prior to His betrayal. As His disciples prepared for the Passover meal, one detail had been overlooked. A servant to wash the feet of the attendees. But Jesus noticed the oversight and instead of rebuking them or recruiting someone to take charge of the task...HE grabbed the basin of water and a towel and knelt in humility and began to wash 24 dirty, smelly and probably unattractive feet. Even the feet of the one person who would betray Him in a matter of a few hours.

I'm confident in stating that the ministry volunteers among our churches do not serve in hopes of receiving applause, a dinner or even a gift. Service is given in hopes that others are drawn into a deeper love relationship with God...as modeled by our Master!

I close out 'The Central Point' today with a few reminders of how each of us can improve our service...
