"Lord, do You love me?"
Date Posted: September 1, 2004

On your journey of live have you ever faced a difficult situation that seemed overwhelming...and at that moment you questioned God's love for you? Maybe you vocalized these words..."Lord, do You love me? Do You even care about me?"

This past Saturday morning I listened and watched in disbelief at the horrifying news that the space shuttle Columbia had exploded over Texas as it prepared for landing in Florida. It is certainly a time of mourning for our nation and a time of grief for the families of the seven astronauts who gave of their lives. And I'm sure that there are many folks around the world expressing this very thought..."Lord, do You care? Do You not love us anymore?"

Wednesday, January 29,2003 was a sad day in the life of our immediate church family. Frank & India Eisenbach are wonderful, faithful servants of the Lord. On Wednesday morning within a one-hour time span...India fell and broke her hip and was transported to the local medical center for hip replacement surgery. As Frank prepared to leave the house and meet his wife at the hospital he suffered a massive stroke. He was then transported to the medical center and continues on life support in NICU...his prognosis and recovery are unknown. Don't you know that family and friends have had this thought cross their mind..."Lord, do You care? Don't You love us anymore?"

Everyone of us will at some time in our life face challenges and difficult circumstances that may send us into the depths of despair; and we may very well cry out in pain..."Lord, do You even care? You don't love me anymore, do You?"

Henry Blackaby reminds us of God's answer to this tough question in his book 'Experiencing God. Mr. Blackaby says, no matter what your circumstances are, His love never changes. Always remember...any ordeal you're going through - look at those circumstances against the backdrop of the Cross. In the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God forever convinces us that He loves us. The Cross, the death of Jesus Christ, and His resurrection are God's final, total, and complete expression that He loves us.

Never allow your heart to question the love of God. Settle it on the front end of your desiring to know Him and experience Him, that He loves you. He created you for that love relationship. In fact, right now, at this very moment - HE is pursuing you in that love relationship.

"Lord, do You love me?" Yes!! God's incredible love for me and you was settled on the Cross!!
