Oh Be Careful Little Eyes!
Date Posted: March 15, 2006

Look at these words from Romans 6:13 - "Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God." (NLT)

How can we, as His children, use our whole body on a daily basis as a spiritual act of worship?

In fact, let's just get real specific...just exactly how can we offer our EARS as a living sacrifice to God?

Well, consider these words from Scripture...

"The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out." (Proverbs 18:15 - NIV)
"Faith comes from listening to this message of good news - the Good News about Christ." (Romans 10:17 - NLT)
"Commit yourself to instruction; attune your ears to hear words of knowledge." (Proverbs 23:12 - NLT)
"Does not the ear test words as the tongue tastes food?" (Job 12:11 - NIV)

What do we allow ourselves to listen to? What kind of environment do we create for our ears? Is it an environment in which faith can be nurtured? Is it conducive to worship?

I know that if I put some food in my mouth that tastes awful...I spit it out! But, what do we do with words that offend our hearing?

Perhaps our ears need to refine their sense of 'taste'!!

I recall a little song I used to sing in the Sunday School preschool department...

"Oh be careful little ears what you hear.
Oh be careful little ears what you hear.
For the Father up above - He is looking down with love.
So be careful little ears what you hear."

My prayer for you this week is that your EARS will be pleasing to God and bring glory to His name!
