Praying through the weak!
Date Posted: May 18, 2005

My week as been incredibly hectic and stressful!! In the midst of packing and moving into a new home, my wife developed blood clots in her legs (which was extremely frightening) and had to seek medical care, and we had to give up our pet cat 'Glitter'. It has been a hectic, stress-filled, emotional and exhausting week!

As I was running one of my many errands this week I passed a church that had on their marquee a quaint saying that I have read many times before..."Seven days without prayer makes one weak." Boy, did that hit home for me! I was so busy with MY agenda that I had spent very little time engaging with my Savior.

When we fail to make prayer a priority by not allowing for any time alone with God - - we will begin to feel an emptiness in our lives. And then begin to experience a sense of unrest and uneasiness. Does this sound familiar to you? Has this been your experience? It certainly has been for me!

Yet, in contrast, when our prayer lives are active, the weight of these burdens will be lifted from our shoulders by the powerful hand of our awesome God!

So, with this in mind, why would anyone choose to NOT pray? Basically, when we make the choice NOT to pray, we are choosing to rely upon ourselves and are therefore making ourselves open to chaos and disaster!

If you have allowed distance to come between you and your heavenly Father, then may I encourage you (and me!) that we purposefully choose to place a high priority upon our fellowship and communication with God. Through these daily, intimate encounters we will hear His voice clearly and understand His will for our lives. And as an added bonus we will experience His best for our lives.

Isn't this absolutely incredible??!!

As you finish reading 'THE FOCUS'...just pause and spend a few secluded moments engaging with our heavenly Father. He is so anxious to hear from you!
