God is sooooo good! On my way to the office this morning, around 7:10 a.m., the car starting shaking violently and I realized that I had a flat tire. Not just a flat tire...but a shredded tire! So I pulled off to the side of the road. But, God provides so incredibly! Sharon usually carrys our cell phone but this morning she said, "Why don't you take the cell phone today...you might need it." So...immediately I turned on the cell phone and called AAA to come and tow me. (I might add that I just signed up for AAA a few weeks ago! - God provides & prepares the way once again). AAA told me it would be about 45 minutes. It just so happened as I left the house I picked up my copy of 'The Purpose Drive Life'...so I was able to spend 45 quality minutes just reading and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to my soul. Again...God provides!
The tow truck arrived around 8:30 a.m. The driver hopped out of his truck and he had such a cheerful spirit and attitude. He said, "Young man, just climb on into my truck and I'll get your car loaded up." After he finished his work - he climbed into the truck and spotted my book, "Oh, you're a Christian!", he exclaimed. I told him, 'yes' and that I was a pastor at Central Christian Church. He proceeded to tell me his involvement in the Baptist church he attended. As we arrived at Wal-Mart to drop off my car...he stopped the truck, laid his hand on my shoulder and prayed for me and the ministry at Central. God is so good!
The service personnel at Wal-Mart proceeded to process my car for repairs and said, "Mr. Wheeler - your tire is still under warrenty...there won't be any charge for the repair." My God is so incredibly cool!!!!
I finally arrived at my office at 9:30 a.m. ... 2 1/2 hours behind schedule. But I praise my Lord for the flat tire and the 2 1/2 hour delay as I have seen His protective hand at work this morning and been reminded so sweetly of how He provides for my smallest (and greatest) of needs!
I can take confidence again in Romans 8:28 - "We know that in all things (even flat tires!) God works for the good of those who love Him!"
He serves as the Senior Pastor with southwest Virginia church... a loving church family in Abingdon.
He and his wife Sharon have been married for over 27 years and are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, one son-in-law, and two precious grandchildren, the second arrived arrived on the scene in September 2004!!
