The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of things!
Date Posted: October 15, 2003

My Tuesday has not started off very well!! On my way to the church office this morning I stopped at a 'quick lube' place to get my car serviced. When they finished and as I was paying for the service the clerk said, 'Oops! I almost charged you too much. I can save you $2.50.' She promptly gave me a Senior Citizens discount!!! I do have a birthday coming up this Saturday...but this lady certainly didn't make me feel excited about it!!

Well, let's move on to some more encouraging thoughts...

Have you ever felt as though your sins were so ugly and so terrible that God could never forgive you? At one time or another, I would say that most of us have probably felt that way. Satan can certainly use 'guilt' and 'shame' as very effective tools in leading us to believe that we're not 'good enough' for the Lord, and therefore He does not and will not accept us.

This, my friends, is a lie!

The fact of the matter is that none of us are 'good enough' for God. (Romans 3:10-12). He is completely holy and His righteousness demands that our sin be dealt with severely. (Romans 1:17-32) However, God in His infinite wisdom knew that our sin was was a debt that we could never humanly pay. God is the only One who could pay this debt for us, so He sent us Jesus - the God-man - into the world (John 3:16)

Through the compensating word of Jesus Christ - every single person can be reconciled to God. It's incredible, but our humongeous debt has been paid in full by the Judge Himself!! (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

If you are struggling with the issue of whether or not you are 'forgivable' by God - then worry no more!! Take comfort in the knowledge that God has already acted to forgive your every sin - past, present & future!

Take time to thank your heavenly Father for His free gift of forgiveness & grace, and begin to look for way you may pass that grace on to others.

I know I'm convicted...I'm think I'll begin by forgiving that lady who mistook me for a 'senior citizen' this morning!!
