The Focus

Walking the straight and narrow!
Date Posted: March 2, 2005

Early one wintery morning two college students were walking across the campus (probably OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY) when they came to the snow-covered football field. One guy challenged the other, "I bet you can't walk across the field - goal-to-goal - and leave a perfectly straight line of footprints in the snow."

"Whoa buddy! Just watch!" said the other guy. And off he went - stepping off from one end zone he carefully moved down the field. He kept his eyes focused on his feet and occasionally would glance up to see how much further he had to walk. When he was finished he and his friend ran up several steps in the stadium to get a better view of the field. What a hoot!! From there they could see how crooked and off-center the line of footprints were in the snow.

"I bet you can't do any better," the disappointed student said.

"No problem! Just watch.", he replied.

Starting at one goal post, he walked rather quickly across the field to the other goal post. When finished they scampered up the stadium steps again for a better look. Incredible! The footprints were in a perfectly straight line!

"How did you do it?", the first student asked. The other responded, "Simple, I just forgot about my feet and focused all my attention on the opposite goal post."

Hmmmm....does this possibly describe your Christian walk? Maybe a description of your church?
Is the attention on you or your own accomplishments, little details,...OR on the goal?

If the empahsis of your life or the mission of your church has gotten a little off-center - ask Christ to help 'realign' your steps by keeping the goal, the CROSS, in constant focus!!

Be refreshed and encouraged by reading Ephesians 4:17-24
