Who's zooming whom?
Date Posted: July 26, 2006

Can you imagine this??!!

There you are, driving down the interstate toward home. The speed limit is 65 mph, and you are crusing along at 76 mph. Then, the unthinkable happens - - you zoom right past a police car! Immediately you feel a surge of adrenelin and your eyes dart to the rearview mirror.

Did he see you?
Has his patrol car pulled onto the highway?

Personally, this has never happened to me (yet!)...but I have heard reports such as this from several of my minister friends!!!!!

No doubt, this scene has probably happened to most of us.

Now...the police car represents a greater truth - - drivers are not supposed to speed. Even though you may know this simple little rule...seeing a police car probably makes you glance at your speedometer and just make sure you're within the legal limits. Whether you are speeding or not - - you always hope the police car stays right where it is.

Does this remind you of your spiritual journey? How often are you cruising through life ... maybe a little too fast...and suddenly you find yourself zooming right past the Lord in order to do your own thing?

In our hectic and frenzied summer lifestyles...are you and I guilty of 'speeding'? We have our own agenda, our own events, our own vacations, our own activities, our own destinations ... and we zoom past right past the Lord!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 is a gentle reminder that all of us at some point in our life have been guilty of 'speeding'. So, ask Jesus to help you realize that He is always beside you, seeing all that you do.

But, here's the bonus: even if Jesus gives you a spiritual speeding 'ticket'...take comfort and have joy...for He has already paid the fine!!!!

"Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshippers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, swindlers (...and 'speeders'!!) - none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God. There was a time when some of you were just like that, but now your sins have been washed away, and you have been set apart for God. You have been make right with God because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT)
