Why did God give us such a wonderful, priceless gift . . .the gift of Jesus Christ?
Why such extravagence? Why did He do it?
I'm sure that many of you have been frantically stalking the malls and wearily walking the aisles in the department stores searching for just the perfect gift to give to the love of your life! I'm talking about that extra-special gift for that extra-special person.
Why do you do it?
I know why!!
You do it so you'll see their jaw drop in disbelief!
You do it to hear the squeal of delight and astonishment!
You do it to hear the words..."You did this for ME? I love you so much!!"
That's why you do it.
It's all because of love!
And that, my dear friends, is exactly why God did it! He loves you so very much and desires to give you the perfect gift. "God loved us so much that He gave us a very, very extravagent gift - His only Son; so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life." (John 3:16)
This Christmas as you look at the newborn babe in the manger . . . do you see the cross in the background . . . doesn't it just leave you speechless?! Can you believe it...it's the most extravagent gift...and it's for YOU!
