Working together!
Date Posted: April 20, 2005

After Ruth suffered a debilitating stroke that left her right side incapacitated, she had to take up residence in a local nursing home. Like so many others in similar situations, she was having a difficult time adjusting to her current condition and surroundings. And...to make matters worse, because of her stroke she was unable to play the piano...which was one of the great pleasures in her life.

One day the Activities Director at the nursing home introduced Ruth to another resident named Margaret. Margaret was also a stroke victim and had been a very accomplished pianist. The Activities Director had a grand idea!! You see, Margaret's stroke had affected her left side...just the opposite of Ruth's. So he sat them down, side by side, at a piano, put a piece of music in front of them and encouraged them to play it together.

Well, needless to say, it wasn't easy! At first they struggled, but in time they got better and better. As they continued playing the piano together a beautiful friendship developed between them. AND...it's incredible, but as partners they learned to play better together than they ever had on their own!

Isn't this what God intends for His church? To work together, as brothers and sisters AND in partnership with Christ...and in doing so we will accomplish much more together than we ever could on our own and bring honor to our King.

Psalm 133:1 reminds us..."How wonderful it is, how pleasant, when the church lives (and works) together in harmony!"

As HIS CHURCH...let's work and serve joyfully together to accomplish great things for HIS KINGDOM!!
