Breaking Records
Date Posted: November 8, 2020

"Bob Beaman's legs gave way, and an astonished and overwhelmed Beamon suffered a brief cataplexy attack brought on by the emotional shock and collapsed to his knees, his body unable to support itself, placing his hands over his face. The news was overwhelming.

Bob Beaman shattered the Olympic Long Jump record, in 1968, by nearly two feet. The judges did not set the camera to record and measure the jumps far enough for this unbelievable achievement. The judges had to find and use a physical tape measure to record the jump.

Prior records were broken, but only by inches. Because of this jump, a sports jargon, a new adjective – Beamonesque – came into use to describe spectacular feats.1

Beamonesque: (of a sporting achievement) spectacular; remarkable https://en.wiktionary.org/

God wants us to break records!

First are the records that keep repeatedly playing, telling you, you are not any different from the corruption in your historical lineage. We've got to break those thoughts by the power of God's Word.

I've had to break records of lust, drunkenness, and poverty from my past. We all have the history we must break. I did this by reading the Word on a regular basis, praying often, and sitting quietly with the Lord on a daily basis.

Your past life can’t win in your life unless you let it win. Read this passage: Isaiah 54:15-17 AMP

'If anyone fiercely attacks you it will not be from Me. Whoever attacks you will fall because of you. Listen carefully, I have created the smith who blows on the fire of coals and who produces a weapon for its purpose; And I have created the destroyer to inflict ruin. No weapon that is formed against you will succeed; And every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn. This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.'

God created the smith who makes weapons and He created the destroyer who uses these weapons. Guess what... He knew you before He formed you in the womb. ( Jeremiah 1:5 ) He knows what you are made of. You were created in the image of God. ( Genesis 1:26 ) The weapons formed against you are no match to Who is inside of you.

Your corrupt past has been destroyed.

God hasn’t any record of it so break the record that is playing in your head.

Learn to break those records.

Next, we must move into breaking records of achievement in this lifetime.

John 14:12 AMP

'I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do, and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach] because I am going to the Father. '

Is this saying we can break Jesus's record of the things He did on earth?

Paul the Apostle wrote:

Romans 8:37 AMP

'Yet in all these things, we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]. '

Listen to the words. “He will do even greater things than these.” “We are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory.”

I believe God wants to take us to the place in our minds and heart where we think and believe we can break His record of exploits on this earth.

I encourage you to start breaking records in the name of the Lord.

Andy
