Long Life-Psalms 91:16
Date Posted: September 27, 2020

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Psalm 91:16 KJV

This guy I know is one I don't want to be traveling with on a long road trip. He's a good guy, but his mouth tends to speak everything he is thinking. I mean everything. From the rising of the sun, till he lays his head down at night, he would say everything he's thinking. It's the gift of gab on a double shot of espresso. My ears work overtime consuming the thousands of letters crammed into my brain. The processing power it takes for my mind to comprehend the surplus of words causes me to lose a couple of pounds. If you threw all the Scrabble letters on the floor, that's what it would look like in my skull. No brain, just Scrabble letters.

Working closely with him makes it for a long day.

This kind of circumstance gives the word "long" a negative slant. But if I said, "I had a long, restful nap.", it would change the mood and emotion of the word "long."

With the above verse, if I looked at my disparaging history, I could think I've had a long life as it is. "Just take me home now, Jesus." I could say. It's a temptation in our daily life to lean toward the negative past and our present day. It's a trick starting the moment we wake up. And we, throughout the day, hear the enemy the talking to us non-stop about how bad we've got it. As we lay our head down at night, all the jumbled letters and words from the enemy form sentences of doom and defilement. These sentences become a mantra; we live out daily to the point the enemy doesn't need to keep a close eye on us. We do the work for him as we repeat the pattern he has placed in our thoughts. We wake up and march to the propaganda, freely without question.

Is this you?

It doesn't need to be.

There is more for you than this.

The "more" is Jesus.

Read more of the verse above. With long life will I.

This statement is the Lord speaking His will over us. If He wills it for us, it will happen.

The Lords will is conditional. We must choose to agree with God's desires. We choose the direction of our thoughts daily. We choose the mantra's in our life, and they become our religion. We speak the words of death because they agree with our feelings and emotions.

But we can speak life into our life. We can declare words that override our emotions and circumstances and direct us to our true north, which leads to the path of the Kingdom of God.

God wants to satisfy us with long life, but we must choose to see Him as a good Father who freely gives His children good gifts.

Choose life today and allow the Lord to bless you with long life.
