Psalms 91:12
Date Posted: April 7, 2024

'They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. '

Psalm 91:12 AMP

Remember the shocking feeling radiating through your body when stubbing your little toe? The extreme pain makes you jump around like a dancing gorilla. You jump around like a one-legged high wire artist. Your voice box clamps up like a Venus flytrap preventing your bellow from expressing itself.

In verse 11 of Psalm 91, we learned God sends out from under His protective shelter and into the world to be a strong, developed, fighting believer. In this verse, we can see, God does not send us out alone. In good times and bad, we are never alone. The Lord promises never to leave us nor forsake us.

Hebrews 13:5b says', For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [ Joshua 1:5.]';

Hebrews 13:5 (Amplified Classic)

The Lord created the stones for us as a gift of beauty. Satan wants to turn God's gifts into something harmful. He tried to harm Jesus, and he will do the same with us.

Luke 4:9-12 (AMP)

'Then he led Jesus to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle (highest point) of the temple, and said [mockingly] to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; for it is written and forever remains written, 'He will command His angels concerning You to guard and protect You,' and, 'they will lift You up on their hands, So that You do not strike Y our foot against a stone .'" Jesus replied to him, "It is said [in Scripture], 'you shall not tempt the Lord your God [to prove Himself to you].'

Jesus did not take the bait. He countered Satan with the truth of God's word. Satan's big mistake was he thought he was coming against Jesus alone. It is the opposite. Before Jesus's 40-day period in the desert, the Spirit of God filled Him.

Luke 3:21-22 (AMP)

'Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, the [visible] heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, "You are My Son, My Beloved, in You I am well-pleased and delighted!" '

Luke 4:1 (AMP)

'Now Jesus, full of [and in perfect communication with] the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.'

Satan wasn't facing Jesus, the man; he was facing Jesus, the man filled with the Spirit of Truth. Jesus was now fully man and fully God. Satan overplayed his hand, thinking he could take Jesus down before His time was due.

When we stand in faith, trusting God with our lives, we are fully protected by God's angels, whose sole purpose is to keep us cupped in their hands to keep us from wiles of the devil.

Take time to consider God’s perfect protection for your life. He is a good Father who desires His best for your life.
