Psalms 91:7
Date Posted: February 18, 2024

'A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but danger will not come near you. '

Psalm 91:7 KJV

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

It's been a prevalent statement over the years. It's a sensible statement to remember concerning advertisements for any given product. In this world, we have to use wisdom for purchases, relationships, and quick fixes.

Unfortunately, this statement mixed with our personal experiences can taint how we view and react to God's Word.

In regards to the verse, for instance,

How do you feel when you read, "but it shall not come nigh thee."? (This verse is referring to the pestilence and destruction from verse 6.)

Can you fully believe it?

Do you have conflicting emotions about it?

As followers of Christ, we want to believe the Bible is true, but it seems our lives live in conflict with the Word. Our thoughts about certain scriptures tend to justify the fact we are not living in all the remarkable promises of God.

How many times have you questioned living the full life Jesus offers us in John 10:10?

'The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. ' John 10:10 AMP

Here's another good scripture. Romans 8:1, "Therefore there is no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment]for those who are in Christ Jesus[who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. (AMP)

I questioned this scripture for many years. In doing so, it kept me from believing God could love a man like me. I could not grasp the fact I was free from guilt and punishment. I walked away from the Lord for thirteen years, holding on to sin.

Fortunately, Jesus rescued me again. He led me through a process of restoration. He taught me to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Doing this led me to renew my mind daily, to the point I could believe Romans 8:1. Jesus led me to places in my heart and soul that needed healing. The Holy Spirit waited for me at the door of my internal imprisonment mending deep-seated wounds of the past. He used the Word of God, revelation, and His presence to bring me to wholeness, peace, and trust in His goodness.

It can be challenging to believe scriptures like Psalm 91:7. I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to give an understanding of this verse.

He said it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32 AMP)

For us to have our Father's kingdom, is to have our Father's protection from all things. It's to have our Father's provision for everything needed. It's to have all the Father's love.

I desire to know Jesus more intimately so I can freely believe in His promise in Psalm 91:7.

Will you seek Him more intimately?

Andy
