Psalms 91:9
Date Posted: March 10, 2024

'Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;' Psalm 91:9 KJV

This verse grabs my attention. In the middle of this chapter, it exerts God's powerful ability to destroy the works of Satan. This verse reminds me of the cheesy commercials that play up their product then state, "But that's not all!" It's phycological wording to reel in your attention to increase the perceived value in your mind.

But God is not cheesy. He, in this verse, is upping the ante. God is adding more goodness to your plate. He's showing us; He's not cheap and stingy. This verse is showing us the value of our commitment to spending time with Him. "Because thou hast made the Lord" is stating your purposefulness is paying off. You may have started spending 5 minutes a day with Him, but now you are at 30 minutes a day. Look at the progress. Look at the increased trust level. Look at how the Spirit speaks to you. Look at your emotions balanced throughout the day. All because you decided to spend more time with the Lord. You may have missed a day, but you picked it back up the next day. You are growing, but more importantly, you are getting more intimate with the Lord and He with you.

But that's not all!

There's more!

There is always more with Jesus.

Think about this. The word "habitation" is defined,

Strong's Definition From the same as H5772; an abode, of God (the Tabernacle or the Temple), men (their home) or animals (their lair); hence a retreat (asylum): - den, dwelling ([-]) place), habitation.

H5772-Strong's Definition From an unused root apparently meaning to dwell together; (sexual) cohabitation: - duty of marriage.

The level of relationship with the Lord the author is talking about is a marriage level intimacy. We can get to know Him deeply. We can build a level of affection and confidence with the Lord to the point of living without fear. Trusting God in all situations will be unquestioned in our hearts. Peace overrides fear in a moment's notice when we purposely make the Lord our habitation. His love for us becomes indisputable. We begin to have a greater understanding of Exodus 34:14';—for you shall not worship any other god; for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous (impassioned) God [demanding what is rightfully and uniquely His]—'

You are uniquely God's. He purchased you with the blood of Jesus. He desires your heart and will speak to you as a loving father speaks to his children. He will, if you let Him, protect you, and provide for you all the days of your life. God hates the destruction of sin in our lives. He hates the boundaries of fear in our lives. God, the Father, hates anything that tries to hurt us because His name is Jealous. He wants to be your habitation from this day forward.

Ask the Lord for a greater understanding of Him being your habitation.
