You are gods
Date Posted: April 30, 2023

I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. (Psalm 28:6)

This is a big statement into who we are in the eyes of God. Jesus later repeated it in John 10. In Psalms it was a statement told to the judges at the time to remind them they have the power to dispense judgment and justice to and for the people as a direct representative of God. That's all fine and dandy except for the fact that most of us Christians don't believe we hold this kind of power and have the authority to use it in this present day as representatives of God. We all have a call on our life. It's up to us to "find the call", perceive it, pursue it and prevail in it. But to "find the call" we must first believe we have a call on our lives. Many believers don't so they aimlessly live this life bored, frustrated and unfulfilled. Some do believe they have a call but don't have a depth of understanding of the importance of the call. We may let past pains and present problems continually tell us our part in the big picture of life is of little value. On the contrary, we have been given a ministry of reconciliation. We have been commissioned to help reconcile man to God. I'm not going to lie to you. Trying to have a better understanding or perception of the value you have to God and to the fulfillment of your call, may be the hardest step in the act of fulfilling the call. You will have to battle deep rooted negative, corrupt and damaged thinking. Your mind will fight you and try to keep the new correct thinking out. The resistance will be fierce from the world, the flesh and the enemy of your soul. At times it will take every ounce of faith to believe in your value in the midst of the resistance. But, if you persist, it will be a strong foundation to help you in the pursuit of your call.

The question I ask you now is: Do you want to "find the call" for your life and perceive the value of it?

If so, here are a few steps you can take to move in that direction.

· Be humble before God. We need to accept the fact that we in ourselves can do nothing but since we have been filled with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we can "find the call" for our lives and fulfill it. We have to be humble enough to accept God's grace and strength on a daily basis, in faith, believing fully in His perfect love for us. We must be humble enough to accept the call as a servant to God and man, knowing you have full authority from God to complete it. We must be humble enough to satisfy the King and to save the people. What if Jesus faltered and didn't walk in the authority given to Him by the Father? The religious elite would still rule and we would still be under the law of sin and death. Take the authority given to you by God and change the world. It is your right and privilege.

· Decide today you will accept the call whatever it may be and whatever the cost. You will not be asked to do the work if you are not interested in it or capable of doing it. A big factor we consider when contemplating the decision is how will I survive? How will I feed my family? How will I keep my house and cars? We need to ask these questions and make a strategy to live but the exterior things should not trump the call on your life. Jesus admonished his audience with the warning of worrying about food, drink and clothes. He said not to worry about such things because the Father knows we need them. One of man's greatest fear is the fear of poverty and not having the ability to be self-sufficient. So in Matthew 6 Jesus puts the hammer down. He confronts all our fears and gives us the answer to self-sufficiency. I must acknowledge that I know some of you may be thinking that this is not correct. You might be saying to yourself: To be self-sufficient is not of God. Read what Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13 AMP: "I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]." Also look back in Genesis when God left Adam the task of naming all the beast. God stayed in the background. Here is the answer that Jesus gave us. Matthew 6:33 AMP: "But seek (aim at and strive after) first of His entire kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides." I have to be honest here. If I was in the crowd, I'd be thinking about picking up my blanket, wrapping up any extra bread and fish and would be on my way home. This statement is absolutely preposterous. He is saying not to worry about the external necessities of life and focus on God's kingdom and God's way of doing things. He is saying there is a higher order of things that will satisfy the external needs and desires of mankind as well as the internal/eternal desires of mankind. We need to look deep inside of ourselves to "find the call" because the Kingdom of God is in us. When we find the work we were created to do and start moving in that direction as a determined goal, our life and thought process will start to shift. As you spend time heading toward the call on your life, your thinking will evolve into God's way of doing things. It's a process and it's good.

· Ask the Holy Spirit to help you perceive the deep value you have to God and to also perceive the importance of your call. It helps to remember that you were paid for with a price. That price was the life of Jesus Himself. Think of it this way. The God of all that is sent His Son into a corrupt, lost and hopeless world to give you an amazingly new life. A life you could only hope for that was always just out of arms reach, taunting you with lies of the latest and greatest fads, toys and unreal reality shows addicting you to the illusion of freedom from the external perceptions in life. Clinging on to the hope of a new job, new love, new house or new religion to rid the sense of emptiness that has set its claws into our soul as a lion sets it's claw's in its prey just before the kill. But God saw our dilemma, the vicious circle we brought amongst ourselves in the rise of a religious mentality. God knew Jesus was the only answer to make a way for freedom. Your freedom. And now that you are free, He's given you the authority to right the wrong in this world. You are precious and so is your call.

· Start looking in the mirror daily and look deep into your eyes telling yourself you have the power of God in you. You have been called a god by God to pronounce judgment on something that is wrong and correct it. Remind yourself you have been given the ministry of reconciliation and you have been given everything you need to do that ministry. Speak out loud that you are more than a conqueror through Christ. Daily you will need to destroy the old script of your past and write the script of your predestined future. This is a must do.

Now take time to think about the deepest parts of you. What excites you? What injustice in the world moves to want to do something to fix it? This can be a little tricky because as followers of the Christ many injustices will bother us. To "find the call" we must do some digging into the deepest parts of our being. One very good way of doing this is to search for who we are or who God made us to be. Find out who God is and work you were created to do will start to illuminate in your life. Remember God said He knew you in your mother’s womb. This is because He put in you a part of Him that He wants to change, fix or heal. Here's an example. Many years ago my first son died of a rare medical condition. But my call in life isn't to become a doctor and try to fix this physical medical condition. Quite the contrary. As of now my specific direction is to connect with the broken hearted to give them hope for healing and to help people to "find the call" for their life. Since I took the time to think about the deepest parts of my life, the loss of my son was a clue to the work I must do. Since my heart was deeply broken, it negatively affected to the point of being on the edge of suicide. Therefore I can relate to the brokenhearted and lead them to Hope.

If we are to be the people God has called us to be, we must have the proper perspective of who we are as Christians. Yes, we are gods. (Small g) But how can this be? It is stated in Colossians 2:10: And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. This is another big statement about who we are in Christ. It's these types of scriptures that we must capture in our hearts and start to believe so we can start to do what we have been called to do. Depending on our life it could be anywhere from five to fifteen years before you get a good enough understanding of the power and authority we possess through Christ. It's imperative to get this higher perception of ourselves in order to fulfill the call on our lives.

Friends, I have not arrived to a level above many others. I'm learning as I go just like many of you. However, I have made it my definite chief aim to help others "find the call" for their life. Your thoughts and insights will help me do this. I hope you join me in this endeavor.

With great respect,
