1...2...3...GO!
Date Posted: April 13, 2008

Go? Go where? You have to have a road to travel down before you can travel. Are you confused about where your next step is supposed to be? What road are you supposed to travel down? Basically, what is the will of God for your life? Well guess what? You and about one million other people in this world we live in are wondering the same thing.

There are people who love God with all their heart, soul, and mind yet do not have a clue of what God's plan is for their life. What's worse, they don't even know how to go about finding out. The biggest problems with Christians today is they don't know where they are going or how to get there, nor what they are supposed to be doing.

Well take hope! There is a way to find out! God never planned that we be left in the dark concerning his will for our lives. He wants us to know. because, how else would we be able to fulfill it? We may not know the plan from beginning to end, but we can know the beginning and get on the road to learning the end! We need to remember that God is for us not against us! He is not the one that puts the road blocks up or plans the wrecks in our road. The word says in John 10:10 "...that the thief comes to steal kill and destroy." And we know who the thief is!

What is the first step to learning the plan of God for our lives? It is called prayer. Spending time in the presence of God. Spending time in God's word finding out what God promises us. Praying out the mysteries that Paul talks about.

Ephesians 1:9 The Amplified Bible

"Making known to us the mystery (secret) of His will (of His plan, of His purpose). [And it is this:] In accordance with His good pleasure (His merciful intention) which He had previously purposed and set forth in Him,"

They are not mysteries to God! However, they are mysteries to us which God desires us to seek out. What are the mysteries? What God in Christ Jesus has done for us. What God has planned for our lives. The paths we are to take. How we are going to affect others lives. What type of spouse we are supposed to have. What kind of calling is on our life. What type of job do we need? God is the one with ALL the answers. We should be the ones asking the questions and taking time to listen for the answers.

One of the biggest enemies we face today is busy-ness.

Psalm 39:6 NKJV "Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them."

People are like little ants constantly on the move from one place to another, never slowing down to take a breath, much less pray. Prayer is one thing you HAVE to take time to do. You HAVE to make yourself stop, get alone and focus on God. It isn't just going to happen. You are not going to look up one day and say "Oh, I have TIME to pray!" Not today and not tomorrow! It AIN'T gonna happen! You HAVE to make it a priority in your life. It's a priority that you take time to bathe and brush your teeth daily. It's a priority that you take time to eat everyday. Make it a priority to pray everyday.

Busy-ness also consumes our thinking. If we are sitting down our mind is usually going 90 miles an hour racing to the next place we are supposed to be, or the next project we have to do. One thing we need to learn how to do is to wait upon the Lord. Make your mind shut-up and be quiet before God. Then you will be able to focus and center in on God and bathe in His presence and peace. In His Presence and peace you will be able to hear the voice of God speaking in that quiet, still voice. What kind of things will He speak? Words of love, kindness, encouragement, discipline, direction, and whatever your need happens to be at the time.

I encourage you to get alone with God and spend time in His presence. It is a project that has many lasting rewards. It will be worth your time, effort, energy and strength! You can measure how deeply you want to know God's will for your life by how much time you are willing to set aside for prayer and seeking God!

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
