Weekly Wisdom Winnows

Are you imagining heaven or earthly hell?
Date Posted: September 7, 2008

"When We All Get To Heaven" remember that old Hymn? Sometimes we obsess over problems down here on earth so much and so constant, that there isn't any more room in our little pea brains to fill it with anything else. STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING! RIGHT NOW! Put down whatever is in your hands, shut out your stinking thinking mind and focus on what I am saying to you. This is so important. It is a key to successful living right now!

When you get through reading this article, I challenge you to set a timer for just 5 minutes and find a quiet place and shut your eyes and think on, meditate on, chew on and dream about heaven and seeing Jesus. Think about when you get to heaven how far away all these problems will be and think about this. Heaven is for eternity. These problems are temporary. This time next year you will have a whole new set of problems to think about! And a whole new set of dreams and goals to achieve. Shut your eyes and use your imagination the way God intended it to be used. For some of us this will be harder than for others. Why? Because our focus and our imaginations are always used for the wrong thing! Looking at what is right in front of us and imagining the worse! God gave us our imaginations! But He gave them to us for right and not wrong. Worry is meditating on the wrong thing. Imagining the wrong thing. Thinking obsessively on the wrong thing! AND WORRY IS A SIN! Now I am not belittling your problems or trying to make light of them. We all have them. Some bigger and badder than others! But you can put them in perspective! And this is one way to do it. It will lighten your load!

One thing is a constant and already attained goal, if you know Jesus. You have heaven waiting for you and Jesus is waiting for His bride. That's you! If you have trouble imagining what heaven looks like, go to the Word and see how John describes it in Revelation 21:9-27. Use your imagination and see yourself walking on a street of gold. Look down at your feet. Look up and see the green grass around you, so lush and such a wonderful color of green as you have never seen. Look at the flowers all around. Such multitudes of different colors, pink, purple, blue, red, yellow...so many and so beautiful. Look up the glistening gold road and see Jesus walking towards you with a smile on His face and his arms outstretched in welcome. I dare you to look into His eyes and see the pure, solid, undefiled, nothing-you-can-do-change-it, love the master has just for you. Here him call YOUR NAME. Yes, He knows you by name. He knows who you are, what you like, what you dislike. He knows you! Listen to how gently he speaks to you. Listen to Him tell you, I love you and I can't wait for you to be here forever! Just sit back for a few minutes and think, meditate and dream about heaven and seeing Jesus. Let the atmosphere of heaven surround you here and now and all of the heavy problems will lift off and seem far away! Remember the song;

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus; Look full in His wonderful face."

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
