In Consistency Lies The Power
Date Posted: January 4, 2009

We know the power of God is the gospel of Christ because the Word of God says this in Romans 1:16. But you can have the Word laying around your house all day long and it is not power to you because you have not put it in you. A gun is a powerful weapon, but if you do not put the bullets in it and pull the trigger that power does absolutely nothing for you. You might as well stick out your finger and say bang! It will do just as much good. It is the same way with the word of God, prayer, and the presence of God. This is why I say "in consistency lies the power". You have to be consistent in putting the word of God into you, praying and meditating, and fellowshipping with God for the power of that word to do you any good.

What does the word consistent mean? It is comparable to the word continue in the Word of God. So lets look at that; Romans 11:22 says ….goodness of God for you if you continue in His goodness…Colossians 1:23 states ….continue in the faith and don't be moved away from the hope of the gospel….Colossians 4:2 says ….continue earnestly in prayer and vigilant with thanksgiving…. 1 Timothy 4:16, …continue in the doctrine for in doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you....2 Timothy 3:14continue in the things which you have learned…Hebrews13:1...continue in brotherly love….

It is a lifestyle of continuing to continue on…regardless. If you are one that is known for procrastinating or not keeping to your word, you are probably not a consistent person. You more than likely do not have victory in very many areas of your life. Procrastination is a sign of a carnal Christian who is still led around by their feelings and their flesh instead of doing what is right, good and edifying. BUT take heart, be encourage! It can change.

I believe this coming year is going to be a rough one for many people. If you have not yet developed a habit (lifestyle) of being consistent with the things of God, I strongly suggest you start today! One day at a time, do what is necessary to get the word of God into you where you will be able to face that evil day. I was thinking about the things that are necessary in our life. One is food. You have to go buy groceries to be able to eat or you would starve. You have to do something. Another is paying your bills. You would go without your car and your utilities if you didn't pay your bills. Again you have to do something. And you could not buy food or pay your bills if you did not go to work consistently. You would not have a job to go too! Again you have to do something. Now let me ask you this, do you always feel like buying groceries, paying bills, and going to work? NO! and neither do I, but guess what? IT IS NECESSARY! It is just as necessary for your spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health and well being to do what is necessary spiritually as it is naturally. Why do so many people not get it? Why do we slowly fade away from what is necessary spiritually but plow ahead everyday with natural? I believe that people do not see the consequences of the spiritual part, but feel the consequences of the natural very quickly. What they do not realize is there is CONSEQUENCES to the spiritual slacking too. For instance, the word of God clearly says, that He(God) will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him. How many times have you lost your peace so far today? Well according to the word, this is a spiritual principle that does not fail. No matter what happens in the natural to cause you to lose your peace, IF you keep your mind stayed on God and His promises you will not lose your peace….Now how awesome is that? But how long has it been since we sat in His presence with our minds on Him, and meditating His promises?

Begin to pour the Word into you, several times a day. Take a scripture or two and carry them around with you, pull them out every time you have the chance, (you do go to the bathroom do you not?) Stop once or twice every few hours and spend a few minutes in communion with the Father. Pray daily. No you will not always feel like it, but do it anyway, just like you go to work when you don't feel like it. Do it anyway! Be consistent, everyday, day in and day out. You will not always see instant results, but you will see them. Continue in consistency even when all hell breaks loose. Make a commitment to God and to yourself to do this. I can promise you, the evil day is coming, and how prepared you are will determine whether you sink or swim, and in some cases, whether you live or die. Make the decision, every morning, daily, I will make my schedule fit into the word of God, prayer and time with God, not fit God in your schedule. Be consistent in your prayer time and in developing a relationship with God. Get to know him the way you know your best friend, your spouse, your children, your parents. Learn what He likes what He don't. What moves Him what don't. How He views things and situations. Be consistent even when your flesh is yelling, "I don't want too!" Your body is yelling, "I'm to tired too!" or "I'm sick." When you emotions are screaming at you, "You can't make me!" DO IT ANYWAY! It pays to be consistent. It also cost not to be!!! Be blessed….Lisa

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
