Weekly Wisdom Winnows

This seems to be a subject that God is continually dealing with me on. Being intimate with Him. I have been studying and reading books and praying over this one subject. So I ask myself, SELF, Why is this subject so important to God? Then I decided I better ask the one who knew! So GOD, why is intimacy with you so important to you? Boy, did I get answers. Yes, answers as in plural, God is so so smart! He knows the whys and the hows and the how comes and all that stuff. So are you ready for the answers? Here we go!
1. He is IN LOVE with us. As individuals, He is crazy about us and wants to be in our company ALL the time.
2. He knows the plans of the enemy for our life and when we are in intimate contact with Him He can show us the traps before we fall into them.
3. He wants us to know Him, to know His character so when things happen we don't understand we will know Him well enough to know He is not the author of hurt, anger bitterness, etc... and even if we don't understand we know Our Daddy is love!
4. He wants to give us His plans for our life. His way always works. He wants us to be able to hear Him speak clearly -go this way-don't do that-yes, do this.
5. He wants to teach us more about ourselves. He knows us better than we do!
6. He wants us to fall in love with Him, more and more everyday.
7. He loves us so much, He does not want us hurt, so if we are in the secret place....we are safe
8. He wants us to fall in love with the body of Christ and love them the way He does.
9. He wants to prosper us, spiritually, mentally, physically, fiancially, emotionally. He can only do that to the ones who trust Him to. So he wants us to trust Him.
10. He wants us to see beyond the natural realm. There is so much more to life than what you see.
11. He wants to make us strong so we can face anything through Him.
12. He wants to reveal secrets things to us.
People, there are so many more reasons that God wants to be intimate with us. Ask Him for yourself. Talk to Him and TAKE TIME to hear his answer. Remember too, that we are on God's timetable. He is not on ours. It may take you more than 5 minutes of setting in absolute stillness and quietness to hear from Him. Learn to be still before the Lord. He said BE STILL and know that I am Lord. What has stillness have to do with anything? Because as humans we are busy, busy, busy and we have no time to just sit and do nothing except pray quietly and love on God.
But let me ask you this. Have you ever been "in love" before? Even puppy love? What did you want to do all the time? Every minute of everyday you wanted to be with that person. You wanted to do what they were doing. You wanted to talk to them, even smother them with your love and affection. WoW! What would happen if we did that to God? How intimate can you be this week with the Lord? I think you will be amazed at the joy, strength, peace and happiness you can find by laying aside, the TV, the yardsale, the grocery shopping, the laundry, the football game, the extra time with your friend and go seek the one who created you for intimacy with Him.
You didn't fall in love instantly with your spouse did you? NO, you got to know them and the more you knew the more you wanted to know. Start right where you are. Say Father, I want to get to know you better. I want to become intimate with you. I want to be your friend. Please show me how. Show me how to get quiet before you. Show me how to be still. I can do this only in your strength. So I yeild my time to you Lord and I say Here I am, I give my time to you. Lord teach me to know you. It will be the best investment of your time today!
