It's All About Attitude!
Date Posted: March 9, 2008

Have you ever got to the place where you don't care and you don't even care that you don't care? Does this statement make sense to you? You know the place I am talking about? That place where you can hear a truth or a fact about yourself that needs desperately to be changed but you really don't care that you have the problem or that attitude? There is a part of you deep inside, that recognizes, "this is dangerous territory". And it even scares you because you know that your attitude should bother you-but it doesn't.

You have a MAJOR CASE of hardening of your heart. You know you should do something about changing it, but if you are honest, you really don't want too. You are comfortable where you are. But deep, deep down you have a quiet still voice that is dealing with you to fix it.

So what do you do to get on the road to recovery when your "want too" has got up and gone? If you are a Christian, deep-down, you, the real you, the spirit person that is just like Jesus, really wants to change.

The first step is recognizing that the feelings you are having are NOT THE REAL YOU! Tell yourself, "this is not how I feel, the real me that is. This is my flesh and my emotions and they feel like me, but the real me, the inner me is just like Jesus and if I say, "I am this way or I feel this way", I am saying, "Jesus feels this way" and we KNOW that is not the case! That is a lie!

The second step is to admit the truth and acknowledge the truth-I don't really feel this way. My flesh may and my emotions may be out of whack, but I really don't feel this way(the inner me).

Third step is to repent for believing the lies of your flesh and the devil. Repent for being led by your flesh and feelings. Ask God to cleanse your mind, thoughts, will and emotions.

Fourth step is to acknowledge you can't change this yourself. You need God's help! So yield your will to Him and tell Him, "I can't change how I feel- I have let it rule me for too long, but I recognize it needs changing and I recognize that deep down, I want it changed. The real me does. So I submit my flesh and my emotions to you Jesus. I give up the attitude, "I don't care" to you. I don't feel like I want to. But I know my feelings can be deceived so I am not going by how I feel. Cleanse my thoughts. Help me to get them into agreement with you Lord. Cleanse my emotions. Wash me with the water of your word. Help me to care again. I am willing.

Fifth step is to simply receive your forgiveness, by faith, you may say, I don't feel forgiven. We are not going by our feelings, remember, 1 John 1:9 says when we ask, He is faithful to forgive. The Bible does not lie, but our feelings will. And then, receive the strength from God to change. Change your pattern of thinking. Notice I said pattern of thinking. It has become an established system of thought, you have had the thought, "I don't care" for so long, that every time something comes up now you have to let Jesus help you establish a 'new pattern of thinking'. Yes, I do care, I am changing, by the grace of God. I am not going by how I feel. I go by God's word because He doesn't lie. I am changing. Replace the thought I don't care with the thought I do care. God will help you every time. He is faithful. He wants you to change. Sometimes it is an instant thing, but more times than not it is a process. Don't let the devil defeat you with your attitude. Don't let him tell you, "It is too hard, I will never be able to do this". These are all lies and the opposite is the truth! You can change and God will help you. He has a lot more power than you give Him credit for. So now you are asking, Why should I? What is going to be different about this time?

YOU ARE! You have lived through a lot of stuff- you are really ready to be different. You don't like yourself the way you are and you do want to change. You can walk out of this and recognize it is a place where you never want to be again. Do this right now. Remember-You feel like you really don't want too, but the real you, REALLY DOES! Just take the first step. God is ready, willing and able. He is sitting on ready to meet you there. Right at the beginning step and to walk you through this, Him in you , with you, by you, taking each step with you. Guiding you every inch of the way. You say, "how will I know when I have arrived"? Believe me you will! You will "feel" forgiven, "feel" cleansed, "feel" like a new born baby. But remember, You were all these things the second you repented. Be blessed and go conquer that attitude today!

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
