Weekly Wisdom Winnows

JUST RELAX!
Date Posted: September 21, 2008

I am realizing more and more everyday that life never turns out the way we plan it. However, I can REST, knowing that God truly has my back; I trust in Him. He knew before I did about these circumstances of my life; He goes ahead of me to make the crooked paths straight. People change and life happens. Seasons in our lives come and go, but our God never changes. I trust His character. I could leave and then come back 10 years later and He would still be the same God that He was when I left Him. His love is unconditional. Our love for one another is supposed to be unconditional, but 'conditional love' seems to creep in anyway. God's goodness is everlasting. At times, our goodness only last until someone makes us mad! God is kind to the deserving and the undeserving. He is merciful to all. Ask the questions: 'When was the last time I showed mercy to someone who had deeply hurt me?' 'When was the last time you were kind to someone who had just ripped you to shreds with their tongue?'
We can depend upon and rest in God's character-He will not do the things to us that we deserve, yet I imagine He can find His children trying to do just that to each other daily. Our brothers and sisters, most of the time, do not mean to let us down or betray us, but it happens. As my pastor taught last week, whether or not people mean to hurt us or betray us, I don't have the right to hold anything against them. That same blood that paid for my sin toward others, paid for their sin towards me - Jesus took it for them, too! We can find freedom in this! So just sit back and relax; rest In Christ; really get to KNOW God's character. He doesn't have our iniquities we deal with so He is incapable of letting you down. Relax! S-M-I-L-E; Christ has got your back! (and all of the rest of you too!) PRAYER: "Lord, I just REST in You today. I do not borrow trouble from tomorrow; I refuse to contemplate what might or might not happen in the future. I will NOT accept any evil suggestions in my mind today! It does not matter what I am facing today, tomorrow, or even in the next few hours. You may not be able to "make a person" change their will and YOU, my All-Mighty-All-Powerful-All Knowing-All Sufficient-Father God, may not able to fix 'it' by bailing me out, changing the circumstances, or turning their heart right, but I KNOW that You are certainly "big enough" to fix, bail, change or turn me, so that I will not allow 'it' to have the power to bother or harm me. You knew before I did that a day would come when something would happen and I would be in a place that only You could deliver me. You knew and have already made a way around that person or problem for me, even before the day ever got here! How awesome You are, God!"

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
