I want to tinker with your thinker. I want to debate the way you meditate. I want to rack your brain about what you entertain. I want to show you how to choose what you use. I want you to measure the depth of your treasure. I want you to grow and learn, in how you discern. What am I talking about? Well lets dig in and find out!
Do you know how to meditate? Do you know the difference between meditation and studying the word of God? Do you believe there is a difference? Let me show you...
When you study in any area, whether it is the word of God or school work, you are gathering information and collecting data, which is feeding your mind and your intellect. Study alone just gives you a "head knowledge" of the word of God.
When you meditate, you take the material you have studied, (gathered and collected) and go over it and over it. You think on it, muse on it, ponder and memorize it. You mutter over it, talk it to yourself, pray over it and use your imagination to envision it. This is meditation.
As you meditate, God brings revelation knowledge on a particular subject or area. Revelation knowledge is like the "aha-moments" that come to us all. Revelation knowledge is understanding where there was confusion or where you "just don't get it." You cannot make revelation knowledge come but you can put yourself in the position to let God reveal the word to you by meditation of the information that you have gathered.
What would be the negative side of meditation? WORRY! Worrying is meditating on the wrong thing. It is thinking on, musing over, pondering and imagining things that bring stress, depression, confusion, and a feeling of helplessness. You can turn worry around into victory by taking what the devil brings to you in worry and take the word of God in that area and start thinking and meditating on the answer in that area. For example, you have a child that is not doing right and you are at your wits end. You can worry and fret over him or her or you can take the word of God(data you collect in that area) and start thinking on and meditating on what God says about your child. What you put your focus on and think on all the time is what will drop into your heart and what is in your heart is going to come out! It will come out in your words and actions. So meditating on the RIGHT thing is so, so, so important! Meditation is what brings faith to the forefront and causes you to have right actions which produce right results! When revelation knowledge comes as a result of meditation it causes you to "see the truth" and the word comes alive in you. It becomes real to you.
Lets see what the word of God says about meditation.
In Joshua 1:8 "And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed." THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language
Another scripture is 1 Timothy 4:15: "Practice and cultivate and meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them [as your ministry], so that your progress may be evident to everybody." -The Amplified Bible

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching. God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
