What Evil Day? (part 1)
Date Posted: March 30, 2008
Are you experiencing and evil day? What is an evil day? In Ephesians 6:13 The Amplified Bible says Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. And in The Message it states, Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. An evil day would better be interpreted an evil season. Some of the interpetations of an evil day, are the days of temptation, the days when you are violently assaulted, the days of Satan's special assaults. So we see that this is not an ordianary day. Thank God we don't have evil days or seasons of evil every day! But they are going to come! They can come in the form of a lost job, a spouse leaving you, a child becomes really sick, being diagnosed with cancer, strong temptations of your soul and a whole host of other things that are not an everyday occurance. That is why it says violently assaulted. It can be an assault to your emotions, your body, your mind, you fianances and sometimes a lot of them at one time! This would be a special assault!

So what do you do in the evil day? First of all have you prepared ahead of time? We should prepare for war in times of peace. This is one of the hardest things to do, because everything seems alright and you have other things to do. But it is necessary for your welfare. If not, then you will have to hide your self in the secret place of most high. See Psalm 91. If you have prepared for battle in the quiet seasons then take up the whole armor of God so you may withstand in that evil day and having done all, STAND! The Greek word is a military phrase and means, to overcome, to make an end of, to vanquish, to defeat our enemies by maintaining and advancing in our stand against them.

Okay so what is the armor of God? Look in Ephesians 6:14-18 and study out what your armor is and how to apply it. This passage states your armor and with a little study you can understand more how to use your armor against the devil in that evil day. Look in Ephesians 6:11...so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. The word wiles means the methods of the devil; the different plans and schemes he uses to deceive, entrap, enslave, and ruin the souls of men. A man's method of sinning is Satan's method of ruining his soul. -Adam Clarke Commentary. There are many forms of evil days. That is why we have to be on our guard at all times.

I want to mention here if you have not prepared for battle then saturate yourself with Psalm 91. In part 2 next week I will go into what to do if your not prepared when the evil day comes. God is still a BIG GOD! And he is still on the throne...so there is always hope and an answer!

As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
