Weekly Wisdom Winnows

You belong to WHO?
Date Posted: July 27, 2008

I have decided to put all of my eggs in one basket! I have decided to go whole-hog after one thing. I have decided to take a chance, get back in the race, give it my everything, not look back and head towards my finish line. I have decided to get out of the boat and walk on the water. I have decided to follow Jesus. I have decide to take up my cross and follow Him.

What do I have to lose? What do I have to gain? What do I have to go back too? What in this world is worth living for? Who in this world is worth losing my spiritual rewards for? I can think of nothing and no one who is worth what Jesus is worth to me. I put all of my eggs in the one basket, the basket of Jesus Christ. I have decided that He has to be my everything. He is the promoter. He is the healer. He is the provider. He is the peace, joy and happiness everyone looks for. He is the creator of the earth and the earth is His and the fullness thereof. He is the one who created the moon, stars, sun, ocean, mountains, animals, ME! Why should I tell Him what I will and will not do when He is the one who molded and made me to do HIS will? Who do I think I am to tell the potter how to make the clay. Does the clay have the right to say I won't be a pitcher but a bowl? Does the human have the right to tell the Maker, I will not preach but I will sing? Does the child of God have the right to tell the parent-God what he will or won't do?

Don't we have it just a little backwards? Yes, Jesus came and died and set us free from sin, hell and the grave. He set us free from the devil and his works. But he bought and paid for us with His own blood. Now He owns us and we are His slaves. We are love slaves(ones who have been set free and come back and willing of our own choice, choose to be a slave) of a love God. He is not a hard task master. Has He not said that His yoke is easy and His burden light? Do you think He set you free just to be able to "Do your own thing?" What a joke! Doesn't the Word say that who ever you obey, that is whose slave you are? Do you belong to God or the devil? There is no such thing as a self-made man. Or any of, "I am my own person. I make my own decisions". According to the Word, if you say that you belong to no one but yourself, you are a liar! God's word clearly states that there are only two worlds you can belong to- His or the devils. So whose are you? Which lifestyle do you live? You cannot straddle the fence. God said be either hot or cold. Because lukewarm- He spews out His mouth. He spits you out if you are living a lukewarm Christian existence. God is a good God. He promises His children good things. He is not bad. He does not kill, steal or destroy. That is the devils job. So which job do you have? Killing stealing or destroying(even with your mouth) or edifying, building up and strengthening the brethren? Who ever you obey- that lifestyle you lead- that is who you belong too. Now who did you say you belong too?

Biography Information:
Lisa Mendenhall lives in Smackover, Arkansas with her husband of over 28 years, Chris. She has 4 grown children who also love the Lord, each serving Him in some capacity. As a teacher of the Word, Lisa, believes that she has a responsibility to use her God-given gift to teach those who have a desire to live victorious in Christ how to do so. She believes in order to live victoriously, one must get to know God and His character. His character is love. Therefore, Lisa has a heart-desire to bring people to a greater understanding of God's love. Her teachings explain that when His love is activated IN His children, it will motivate them to give just as His love motivated Him to give 'His only begotten Son', Jesus, to the world. God's wisdom does not always flow with the world's system of wisdom and His Word says, 'my people perish for lack of knowledge'. Lisa states, 'During meditation one day, I heard the word 'winnows'. With great curiosity, I learned it to mean,

'To separate the chaff from (grain) by means of a current of air. To rid of undesirable parts. To separate or get rid of (an undesirable part); eliminate: winnowing out the errors in logic. ...separate grain from chaff...separate the good from the bad...examine closely in order to separate the good from the bad; sift...' (www.dictionary.com) 'This study gave me direction and focus for my teaching.  God had placed a longing in my heart to teach the body of Christ how to separate from carnal thinking and rid themselves of old ways that hinder their Spiritual growth. I desire to see them live victoriously, by the 'higher ways' of God's wisdom.'
