Word from Nairnshire

One man wanted to go further. There usually is.

There is always someone wanting to go further when they know there is something real, and when they are hungry and thirsty for that reality.

This man had heard of Jesus. He had seen Jesus’ miracles and now he had a deep desire for more.

He held a prominent position as a religious teacher and could be regarded as a professor of theology. He was trained to answer questions and would know all the orthodox doctrines.

He had so many things all neatly worked out, and then Jesus Christ came along, shaking his cosy comfortable intellectual academic world!

One night he courageously made the effort to go and have a talk with Jesus.

His religion had been the religion of good deeds, and that never satisfies.

“Try your best. Try hard to be kind. Never hurt anyone.” This never satisfies anyone, and it certainly did not satisfy Nicodemus, but he is about to learn one of the most important truths in the world.

He has questions, but his basic question is, “How do I get into what you are doing?”

Nicodemus was on the outside of what was vital, and he knew that Jesus knew he was on the outside.

Do you ever feel like that? Do you know people who feel like that?

His world needed such a radical change and transformation, that unless he was born again he would not even be able to see the significance of what Jesus was doing.

At that moment he was blind. He was a blind leader of the blind.

When Jesus spoke and taught and worked, it appeared like something from a different world. It was.

A profound conversation followed, and Nicodemus found what he was desperately seeking.
