Word from Nairnshire

Bonkers

Can you say that sort of irresponsible thing today, when so many people are concerned about being ‘politically correct’?

Are you allowed to broadcast such comments, when presenting the Radio 4 ‘flagship’ programme “Today”, and without anyone there to give another possible point of view?

Is it in order to challenge someone’s beliefs, and not offer an opportunity to reply?

John Humphrys, while interviewing two scientists on their research last week, dismissed those out there who continue to believe in Creation, as ‘bonkers’.

Well, I am one of them!

Jesus Christ held to the Genesis record of Creation, as did Peter and Paul and Dr Luke, so those who do so are in good company.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

If the first sentence in the Bible is regarded as unreliable, then how can we trust and rely upon what follows?

Jesus did not treat it as legend, or some picturesque and poetic expression.

He quoted from Genesis Chapters 1,2 when answering questions about divorce, and had no hesitation in doing so.

This is not a side issue. It is central.

Is man only a biological orphan in the on-going evolutionary process, or do I have a gracious compassionate and caring heavenly Father, as revealed in Jesus Christ, who shed His blood to wash away sin?

A wrong compromising understanding or misleading inadequate teaching could cause a man to believe that he is a mere accident, or an unplanned and unwanted mistake – ‘so there is little point in my being here’.

There is an incontrovertible case for upholding the authority and authenticity of the Bible from the very first verse.

Departing from the Word of God has immense and profound spiritual, moral, economic, and financial consequences.
