Word from Nairnshire
by Sandy Shaw
Be specific, persistent and persevere, when it comes to prayer.
One disciple made a very simple request to be taught to pray and Jesus took time to instruct and teach His disciples.
He illustrates with an apt story to make His point.
A friend comes to your home at midnight, and you have no food. You go to your neighbour, and say, “Lend me three loaves”. The neighbour wants you to go away because you are being a bit of a nuisance. You are waking up the whole family, but you are so specific and determined to get three rolls to feed your hungry friend, the neighbour gets up and gives you the bread.
Jesus teaches. Ask, keep on asking and it will be given you. Keep on seeking and knocking, shamelessly, with determination, and you will find the door being opened.
Persistence and perseverance is much more than asking just once.
It is not that God does not want to give to us. Our heavenly Father is not reluctant.
What Jesus is teaching us here is that when we pray, we are to be serious, determined, persistent, courageous and bold.
One of the greatest things we can do in these critical times, in the Church, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, is pray for the work, for the ministry, for each other, for our town and area, and for those in leadership in this crumbling nation.
Pray for the massive task we earnestly seek to do in the Name of Jesus.
If you sense that God has called you, then align yourself with others in the front line of the Kingdom.
God will hear, answer, and give us, and what He gives us will not be something trivial, useless or irrelevant.
