Time out to deal with the massive financial problems confronting our nation is likely to be lengthy and painful and will inevitably mean suffering, worry, deep disruption and sadness. We await the details following months of pretty clear warnings.

Some people have to take time out in an effort to unravel problems that might never have arisen had time been taken to listen to what Almighty God has to say regarding various issues.

Around the time when Daniel was a young man, a nation thought they could just live as they chose, without a thought of the consequences. Their timeout was seventy years in captivity. That is a long time.

Economists are suggesting that children and grandchildren may have to repay the debt which we have irresponsibly incurred.

Ignore God if you want. Ignore Jesus Christ if you want. Ignore the Bible’s teaching, guidelines and commandments, but the cost will be immense.

Jesus tells us to come apart and rest awhile, and many have experienced that if they do not come apart for the right reasons, and rest and pay attention to what God has said, they will come apart for the wrong reasons.

Debt, whether it is personal debt, or national debt, is serious.

Our loving gracious God warns about debt, because He does not want us to pay the heavy price of owing a few pounds, or owing billions of pounds.

He only prohibits us from going down certain roads because He knows the dangers.

There is a way out even at this critical time.

Invest where there are no moths, rust, or thieves.

Joshua, like Daniel, was led by studying what God had said, and he experienced success during a highly challenging time.

Never think we can improve upon God’s ways, whether it be moral or financial.
