Is it possible to have a plan or regime which might enable you to become healthier and stronger, spiritually? It is in the physical realm, where there is a plethora of programmes.

What about our spiritual lives? These need discipline and direction, as do all areas of life.

When it comes to the physical, diet is vital, and it is no different when considering spiritual health.

To become spiritually strong, and spiritually stronger, there has to be a regular intake of the Word of God. To develop, grow, and mature in Christ, a man must feed upon the Scriptures, as we have them in the Bible.

Hearing and reading and studying and meditating upon what we have in the Old and New Testaments cannot be stressed too much. Now, that demands dedicated discipline. You simply make up your mind that you are going to do it.

Many lessons can be learned from all the current preparations for the Olympics.

Athletes will hone their diet, and train to the limits, as they aim for a gold medal in which there is not very much gold. They will know when to say ‘Yes’ and when to say ‘No’.

Peter, in his letters, teaches that disciples of Jesus Christ are preparing for eternity.

Seven days without the Word of God makes one weak!

Prayer too was part of the apostles’ basic teaching.

Jesus would withdraw and pray. We can pray in all kinds of ways.

There are many different ways of praying, and there are many helps around.

Just go and pray. Speak to God as you would talk with any of your friends, but do it, and expect an answer or reply.

If you want an answer quickly, pray, “Lord, is there anything in my life which you do not like?”
