How did the leadership cope, following Peter’s effective address on the day of Pentecost, when around three thousand people came to believe in Jesus Christ? It could have been a massive problem, but it wasn’t.

God never wants anyone to be confused.

There were those who asked for help and guidance as to what to do, and that is good.

The advice given was excellent, and they turned from their sins to God by repenting, were baptised in water immediately, and Jesus baptised these believers in the Holy Spirit.

Baptism in water dealt with their past, and Jesus baptised them in the Holy Spirit, which was required to equip them for future life and service.

Past and future need attention and God provides for that. Both were and are essential.

Once they had been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, the next vital task was to inform those disciples as to how to behave in the Church.

The leaders taught the people as much as they could receive and absorb. Lambs and sheep need to be fed.

Each was encouraged to become committed and devoted to the Fellowship. That can prevent people from running around all over the place, looking for the perfect Church.

If you ever find the perfect Church, do not join it, because it will no longer be perfect!

Sharing, and feeding upon, the bread and wine was central too. That keeps a believer focussed on what is crucial.

From the beginning, they were motivated to be involved in one of the hardest activities in the world. Prayer.

Prayer is hard work. Is that why so few people participate?

These specifications have never been changed, and so never need to be modified, improved upon, or brought up to date.
