Word from Nairnshire

Prepare

If Almighty God prepares then it is incumbent upon us too to prepare. God sends a prophet who comes preaching, to prepare for the appearing of Jesus Christ.

John’s mission was to deal with people’s sins - not their hopes, fears, dreams or sorrows. John comes preaching from Isaiah.

The servant of God must always preach the Word of God.

He does not come with his own message, nice thoughts, and good ideas.

Never mind what you have had. Never mind what you have been. Start again.

John’s work was to get the road straight and smooth, demolish the barriers and obstacles, and fill in the holes which could trip you up. John was a spiritual bulldozer.

As he preached, his word cut people to the heart. He was more concerned about truth than holding onto the crowds.

Race and pedigree do not matter. Righteousness does!

People always want to do something. People react, and either repent or explode!

John told them what to do, and not just what to believe.

He spoke about being responsible in society. Share with those in need. Tax collectors were told to take no more than was legitimate.

Soldiers were commanded not exercise to authority wrongly. Don’t bully, or throw your weight around, or falsely accuse and intimidate.

We hear so much about bullying. Teach this, with the authority of God, and the problem will be addressed.

“Sorry” is not enough. We have to amend our ways. There is something here which everybody can do.

John took all who repented and plunged them in the waters of the River Jordan. Now, this is good news. Everyone benefited from a much needed bath.

John’s basic message was, “Get ready for Jesus, by getting rid of your sins”.
