It was a cracker of a question. Surely there cannot be a fresh surprising question after 2,000 years, but there it was.

“What would Jesus’ DNA be like if He had no earthly father?”

To some questions there are no straightforward answers, and on this occasion the questioner was not being daft, or contentious.

The next question was, “Do you believe in the ‘Virgin Birth’?” There was a pause before answering.

The birth was normal, if one were to regard the circumstances surrounding Bethlehem as being ‘normal’! The miracle took place at conception.

People want proof, and that is understandable.

Following the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ showed Himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive.

Over a period of six weeks the risen living Jesus appeared to His disciples on various occasions, talking with them, teaching them, and even commanding them.

They were convinced that the Jesus who had called them, and who had been with them for three years, and who had been crucified, was now alive.

With these men there was not an ounce of doubt.

From the outset, the men Jesus chose and called displayed amazing perseverance.

This interim period involved a long wait, but not once did they flinch. One of the hardest things to do is wait.

With Almighty God things seldom happen immediately.

They learned this vital lesson early on. They had to. They knew there was more, and they were right.

When it comes to perseverance, the only way we can learn that lesson is by persevering. There is no easier way.

A few weeks of patient perseverance resulted in a lifetime of ministry and useful fruitful service.

What type of proof do you seek? What quality of proof would meet your spiritual need?
