When Almighty God does not do what we want, what are we to do?

How are we to pray, and go on praying?

These are not easy circumstances in which to find yourself. They never have been. They never will be.

One aspect of faith is having that deep conviction that God knows more than we do, and that He will see us through.

Disappointment is the result of unmet expectations. There comes that moment when we refuse to panic, and decide to be patient.

Faith in Jesus Christ reassures us that God is in control.

The Psalmist asked, “Why am I discouraged, downcast and disturbed? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Saviour and my God.”

David was quite open about his feelings, and as he admitted his need it was as if the answers started to flow.

Instead of focusing on what might be causing your discouragement, focus on God who knows the way out.

Joseph had a pretty rough deal in Egypt, but he knew that God was in control and that out of apparent disaster God would bring something good and worthy and practical. Joseph ended up as Prime Minister of Egypt, saving a generation from hunger and starvation.

God had been faithful to him in the past and he knew the character of God. He trusted in the faithfulness of God for tomorrow.

During his time in prison, Joseph did not understand why all these things were happening, nor did he permit bitterness to take over.

We do not have to understand everything all the time.

It made sense later on when his father and brothers came down to Egypt for food.

Being in the will of God, Joseph knew God was on his side.
