Word from Nairnshire

They could not wait til morning.

These two men recognised the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ when He took bread and blessed it at table in their home.

A decision was made immediately to return to Jerusalem and inform the others.

This news was too good to keep until the night was over.

When a man really sees who Jesus is, he is just bursting to tell someone.

Their hearts were touched. Their eyes were opened, and they rushed back to be in the fellowship with all the others.

In the middle of sharing what they had experienced Jesus appears in that room.

He speaks a word of peace to those still a little confused.

How many troubled restless hearts need the peace of God in these present times?

Jesus gave that roomful another Bible Study, and spoke about repentance, forgiveness, sacrificial suffering on the cross, and rising from the dead.

These were to be the preachers who would soon be going out from Jerusalem to all the nations. But, not yet.

They were to wait for the fulfilment of what God the Father promised.

Jesus cautioned them against rushing out preaching before receiving that necessary and essential equipping.

Stay in Jerusalem until you have been clothed power from on high. Remain in the city until you have received the power of the Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist spoke of Jesus doing this. Jesus taught that He would do it. The Father promised these disciples that this would happen, and it did.

Waiting patiently is one of the hardest things God can ask a man to do.

He promises help. He promises power. He promises to be with us always.

Why miss out on anything God has to offer?
