Walking

There are people who attempt to compare God with something or someone else. That is why man likes images and idols, which raises serious questions.

Can a man make an idol big enough and would it give him any real help when he needed help?

By having an idol you are really cutting God down to size.

Where could you find a craftsman who could make an idol which would not topple?

Isaiah knew what he was saying when he spoke like this and the people also realised what he was saying because some years previously they had erected idols all over Israel and they toppled.

Then, the people toppled. That invariably happens.

The living God who created this world never becomes tired or weary. We do both.

God gives strength to the weary and power to those who feel weak and those who wait upon God find their energy being remarkably renewed and increased.

Isaiah speaks about such people soaring on wings like eagles, and running without becoming tired, and walking without feeling faint.

Soar, run, walk. A man might even dare to reverse the order.

Some like to soar from one experience to the next, or run from one spiritual high to an ever higher one. Does such a thing exist?

Soaring can be sensational, and running may be necessary for a season, but the climax for the disciple of Jesus Christ is walking.

God is looking for those who will walk faithfully with Him over the years. That is what counts.

This walking business is such a complex thing!

By simply placing one foot in front of the other, you go forward and make progress, and a little child can usually master it quite early on.
