The commandment of the Lord is pure. Psalm 19:8b It is contrary to reason for a thirsty person to turn from a pure, sparkling mountain stream to quench his thirst at a stale, putrid cistern—yet that is what the human race does when it rejects God’s truth and standards in favor of impure philosophies. Billy Graham, 1918-

(The precepts of God lead to) enlightening the eyes. Psalm 19:8c It is the commonest of mistakes to consider that the limit of our power of perception is also the limit of all there is to perceive. C. W. Leadbeater

The fear (reverential trust) of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. Psalm 19:9a Look not merely to the law, but to the Lord Himself - the introduction of God into everything, and the reference of the heart to Him, and the judgment which He has of everything. This is clean; no spot can remain there, and it is an eternal principle, for it depends on the nature of God Himself. J. N. Darby

The judgments of the Lord are true, they are righteous altogether. Psalm 19:9b Man wants so much to create his own puzzle pieces and fit them together in his own way, yet with so little understanding, the picture in the end will be at best a disappointment.

(God’s truths) are more precious than gold, even much fine gold. Psalm 19:10a Nature in her laws tells of God, but the message is not too clear. It tells us nothing of the love and grace of God. Conscience, in our inmost being, does tell us of God, but the message is fragmentary. The only place we can find a clear, unmistakable message is in the Word of God, which we call the Bible. Billy Graham, 1918-
