Chip Shots from the Ruff of Life

Car choices are a thing of personal taste. A car can say a lot about a person. A jazzy little roadster says, "I think I'm fun and I pamper myself." A minivan says, "Hi, I have kids and I like hauling them around places." A midsized sedan says, "Hello, I'm practical and a little on the frugal side." Some just pick a beautiful or rare car and own it just to look at it. So, what do I drive? I drive a Dodge Stratus.
For me, it was, and still is, the perfect fit. I was able to get one nicely loaded for under $20,000 with a solid performing four cylinder engine for economy. The cockpit area is roomy enough to hold me comfortably. For me, at 6' 2" and well over 200 pounds, that is very important. The suspension is a very responsive tightened version of what they used to offer. It corners well.
One last thing. When it's washed and waxed and sitting in the sun it looks sharp. I got the candy apple red finish with a grey interior. Yeah, that's scarlet and gray and that IS Ohio State's official color combo. The skinny of it is that I love my car and am not ashamed to be seen in it. I love driving it and taking care of it. It's a great car.
People choose churches a lot like they do a car. If they want to be left alone, they pick one in which they can get lost. If they want to be be actively involved they look for one that is relatively small which affords them a ready avenue for their service. They also try to find one that fits their particular worship style and character. But what bugs me is when they pick their church and don't go.
There are those who say, "You don't have to go to church to be a Christian." No, you don't. But it's a lot like going someplace. If you have a car but don't drive it, you go nowhere. And if you have a church but don't attend it, well, you may wind up someplace you really don't want to be. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25 Hey, it's your church. Take it out of the garage and drive it regularly.
