A Moral Imperative
Date Posted: May 7, 2017

There is a moral imperative attached to any and everything God has made and exposed to mankind. Whether we realize it or not, we were all born in debt.

We are in debt to a father and mother who gave us life, and if in a normal home, they provided, clothed, and cared for us until we could care for ourselves. If they, or someone else, had not provided, we would not exist (Genesis 2).

Everything is owned by God, so we are automatically in debt - everything we are, we owe. And yet, some to feel no obligation to anyone for anything. But God is very patient.

It can be very easy to not realize that, if we are alive, we are experiencing His grace. Mankind is free in his relations and interaction with God's creation, but only freedom with responsibility - to God for all He has made, and to fellow humans He has also made. Problems will always be. Solve them, and more will appear to fill their place. We can, and should, be thankful if we are successful. It all proceeds from God’s grace.

God is very patient.

But His patience will not last indefinitely.

It is the same in principle in our obligations to Jesus Christ. If He and the Father had not purposed to have more children, we could never anticipate living forever.

We are obligated - even commanded care for everything God created - whether it be human relationships, actions and attitudes regarding His creation, the earth and all that is on it or in it, along with the atmosphere, that provides us air to breath. Man has freedom, yes - but freedom to care for, value, respect all things. It is easy to let life pass us by and be content to “do no evil”.

Why?

Because the great God who made everything for man, in order that he might come to know God, and when the process is complete, to join God in His eternity.

Mankind is free in his relations and interaction with God's creation, but only freedom with responsibility - to God for all He has made, and to fellow humans He has also made. Problems will always be. Solve them, and more will appear to fill their place. We can, and should, be thankful if we are successful. It all proceeds from God’s grace that enables us.

Do we also sense an obligation to care for what is beneath our feet, on which we set our feet constantly? Is there a feeling for the atmosphere above, and all that grows beneath it?

This obligation was assigned to mankind long ago when God commissioned Adam and Eve to "dress it and keep it"...that is, the creation around them. That mandate passes down through the ages to mankind today.

Lets us be mindful of our responsibility for protecting our environment.

We will be held accountable. We have a moral obligation. Even for the environment in which we live and breath.

"So the Lord God took the man [He had made] and settled him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it." - Genesis 2:15
