A Walk Through The Future
Date Posted: March 29, 2015

"Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” - Luke 24:44 - (NASB)

Here Jesus states plainly that He is spoken of in the Psalms, as well as in the Law and the Prophets, and everything that is spoken of Him there, must be fulfilled. Also, there are many preferences to other events in the future as well. Prophecies are made concerning conditions in the last days, things to take place during the thousand year rule of the earth at Jesus return, etc. If we keep this in mind as we read through the Psalms, it is shocking how much prophecy is contained in the Psalms.

As an example, notice Psalm 10:16-18:

"The Lord is King forever and ever; the nations will perish out of His land. O Lord, You have heard the desire and the longing of the humble and oppressed; You will prepare and strengthen and direct their hearts, You will cause Your ear to hear, To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man, who is of the earth, may not terrify them any more." Here is predicted that a time will come the Lord will be King over the earth forever and ever. and when men will not terrify others any more.

Notice also Psalm 24:7-10:

"Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be lifted up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; yes, lift them up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is [He then] this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory." Here we see Christ's return to become King over all the earth. This event is referred to again in Zechariah 14:4:

"And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from the east to the west by a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south."

These are just samples of prophecy recorded in the Book of Psalms. There are many, many more. The key to seeing prophecy throughout Psalms is to think futuristic. Some prophecies are thinly veiled, and you must in a prophetic frame of mind. When you are in that mindset, you will sudden realize that what you are reading, or have just read is prophecy.

At times, after a few reads like this, you can see the pattern of connections to other scriptures in other parts of your Bible. What is given here is just a sample. At times, what you have just read will connect up with New Testament scriptures, including the Book of Revelation.

So - read the Book of Psalms again. Read again, and keep in mind prophecy, and the future. Some has been fulfilled, at least in type, but much has not. There is type and anti-type in many prophecies of the Bible. And Jesus has said that all that speaks of Him in the Psalms must be fulfilled. And there is many more events also to be fulfilled.

Enjoy your walk through the future in the Psalms.

"Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 timothy 3:16-17 (AMP)
