'Christ in You...'

All You Can

Have you ever felt that what you are doing for Jesus Christ seems like it isn't enough? Or perhaps it is the opposite. Do you sometimes feel that, in some way that you can't really explain, you have done too much in the wrong way, or at the wrong time?

If we are born-again Christians, we naturally want to do more spiritually. Whether it be in service to others, in the church, in the work of our occupation, or just in overcoming our own flaws and hang ups - enduring in the place and life where we have been called.

Those who are relatively new to the faith are often discouraged that, for some reason, they cannot serve in the way they would like. Although sincere with a right desire, it just seems that it is not enough to properly honor and serve their Savior.

Being dissatisfied with the opportunities afforded and available, one can become confused as to what they are to do. Doors for service seem to be closed. Discouragement begins to take its toll. Although naturally energetic and purpose driven, there seems to be no open door of service. What is available does not fit.

To some, God has given the gifts of great abilities for great accomplishments. These spiritual works and accomplishments seem great when compared with many who are not gifted the same. But comparing ourselves among ourselves is unwise. " For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." - 2 Corinthians 10:12

If you begin to feel left out of the loop. and others seem to be doing and performing, and accomplishing great things, what can you do?

There is one thing you can always do. In fact, it the most important thing you can ever do for Jesus Christ! - showing real and heartfelt love for others! This can only be done by obeying the truth. You need to be proactive in love in the proper format with everyone you come in contact with. You should be giving of yourself in complete yieldedness to and for Him. This is what He has done for you. He gave Himself completely for you.

So what should you do?

Do all you can, "buying up the opportunity" in any and every opportunity and circumstance of your life. Do good. It doesn't have to be monumental or world shaking. Do good to all - and all in the name of Jesus Christ, giving Him the credit and the glory. This is the greatest service that you can ever perform. Jesus will give you satisfaction with what you can do now. Eventually He may will give you a service that fits you, or give you the joy of whatever He has for you now.

Some years ago, there appeared on many automobile bumpers, 'WWJD" ("what would Jesus do?"). Love others all you can. This is what Jesus did.

Go, and do likewise...

"But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him], And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii [two day’s wages] and gave [them] to the innkeeper, saying, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I [myself] will repay you when I return. Which of these three do you think proved himself a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers? He answered, The one who showed pity and mercy to him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise." - Luke 10:33-37
