'Christ in You...'

Believe Also In Me
Date Posted: March 7, 2021

There is an almost universal opinion about God, although the word "God" is seldomn heard except as a expletive. Very few, relatively speaking, would blatantly assert that there is no God. Whatever concept they may have about God, most believe a God exists. Therefore, many are convinced that they are OK - as far as the hereafter is concerned. Therefore, they go about their lives very much like those who believe there is no God. The Word of God witnesses against them in a very straight forward way by saying, "The fool has said in his heart 'there is no God'" (Psalm 14:1) These feel relief be asserting that they do believe there is a God. They are living in denial.

If you believe there is a God, it is not something that you acquired in and of yourself, although in some ways it may seem so. You were given a conscience at your conception by this God. That conscience bares witness to your mind that somehow, somewhere there is God. Your conscience has with your mind the gift of observation. In many, due to heredity or upbringing, it is buried beneath a layer of other information, some good, some bad and false. But it is still there. Every human has this, and more importantly, everyone is held accountable by this God for what He has put there - and for what goes into that conscience. This is where the situation gets even more serious.

This inborn conscience, God informs us, has no excuse for any unbelief, or any claim to ignorance. Why is this so?

"For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification]," (Romans 1:18-20 AMP)

There can be no type of defense, especially that of ignorance. Every human on earth has no excuse. There is, by virtue of the existence of what can be seen, heard, and felt, no excuse for not only not acknowledging God's existence, but also for not coming to Him.

"And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome, Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers, slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents. They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless. Though they are fully aware of God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them." (Romans 1:28-32)

Your conscience and my conscience, and that of everyone regardless of the kind of unbelief manifested in our lives, have no excuse. So the pattern is the same for all humanity. Not believing there is a God (however many that may be), and those not believing toward the God that they tacitly admit does exists, and fearing Him as their maker, breath giver, sustainer, and worthy as such, of worship and obedience. There are some who can honestly say that they are believing and doing all of this. Some feel that since they are "good people" by doing all this, that they are "going to heaven". They live our their lives with these beliefs and convictions. This is also the teaching and beliefs of many religions, many movements, many peoples all over the world. This has been the siren cry of false religion in the world ever since Adam and Eve.

But the almost unbearable sadness is: they are all lost...they are still condemned.

Why? Because they are still living in their sins. They are still doing it their way. God will not accept part knowledge, and good intentions. The enormity of what sin is, is too great. God is more Holy than mankind, and He is greater than our attempts at payment for our own sins by creating and performing our own "righteousness". This in effect is attempting to appease God. But as the Bible says, God is not mocked in this way. They cannot "do right" unto acceptance by this great God! They cannot come to this God their on way.

In the New Testament of God's Word, there is the solution. It is everyone's solution. Yours, mine, every human who has lived, or ever will live. It is a very simple solution. You may have heard it before. But the cost to God was unimaginable:

"For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten ([d]unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.]" John 3:16-18 (AMP)

God is one God. But He is a Father, He now has a Son, Jesus, and He is also Spirit, who is a principal Agent for much of what God does and Who He is. In order to receive eternal life - which is the purpose behind all of creation, particularly of mankind - we must do it His way, God the Father's way. And His way is to come to Him for forgiveness of all that we are, that is not like Him. We can get to the Father God only one way. Not be becoming a "good person" in our or other's estimation, but according to God the Father's way:

"In My Father's house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you. And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. And [to the place] where I am going, you know the way. Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way? Jesus said to him,

"I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me." - John 14:1-6 (AMP)

As stated earlier, there are many who sincerely believe that they will go to heaven when they die, based primarily on their belief that there is a God, and they are living a good life, and are good people, and always do what they "think is right". To all of these, Jesus the Son of their God, says that if they believe in God, they must also believe in Jesus the Christ,, the Son of their God!

Do you believe there is a God? If so, do you mostly ignore His existence? Are you doing what you feel is right in God's sight? Do you want live forever in perfect peace and happiness? Then He is saying this to you right now:

"Believe also in Me..."!

"Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me" - John 14:1 (AMP)
