Christ In You

Some years ago a book was written that at the time appeared on the best seller list very quickly. Apparently it was the title that caused it to be one of the best sellers. It was also one of my Dad's favorites. I can still see that book on his shelf to this day...

The title was "How To Win Friends And Influence People". Apparently, the author's theory must have worked for many of those who purchased it.

Have you ever been with a group of friends, or just several individuals, and it seemed to you that there was one who said very little...if anything?

But in some subtle or even mysterious way, this person seemed to speak without saying more than a comment now and then. Yet, for some strange reason his or her presence spoke more than the others.

For reasons known only to God, this person was speaking more than all the others in the group. When someone is living close to Jesus Christ, there is change; a change in an individual that shines forth that passes the expression of words. They radiate the spirit of Christ without saying a word.

As a Christian, do you want to win friends, and influence people for Christ?

You can.

But as a Christian, the key is not addressed in the book about winning friends and influencing others. The method written in that book does not reveal the best motive or the best method of winning friends and influencing others for Christ. For the genuine Christian, there is another way, virtually unknown to most book authors.

One of the best ways to win friends and influence others to become a Christian is by saying very little. But doing so at the right time and under the right condition. They manifest Christ by their very presence, and very few words. How can one influence others for Christ in such a way? As is often said, timing can be everything.

Because Christ is living in them, empowered by the Holy Spirit who has control of the one who is in the presence of a non-believer, the unbeliever is often moved in his or her mind and spirit. The Christian who is filled with and yielded to the Holy Spirit radiates the power and love of God by their very presence. Often without saying a word, or perhaps a word spoken at the right time, and in the right way.

Many times, the subtle and quiet demeanor of a Christian can open a door for the unbeliever to eventually - not necessarily at that time - but later if they are being called to become a believer. Love and human goodness is becoming very rare. Especially in a group environment.

As a Christian would you like to win friends and influence others for Christ to live in them?

Perhaps you can with less words. and more of Christ working in you.

"Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" - Colossians 1:26-27
