Consequences

Most of humanity lives in kind of dream world of self seeking the “the good life”. This is to be expected since they have been born into a world of self seeking. As a saying goes, its just “what we do…”.

Its natural.

It has been so since the fall of Adam and Eve.

The world has not yet realized that all things, all acts, all lives that been lived down through the eons of history have consequences, regardless of who they are and where they are. Job understood this truth, as he struggled with the meaning of his affliction when he said: ““Yet God draws away the mighty by His power, He rises, but no one has assurance of life.” - Job 24:22

However, if you have trusted in Jesus Christ as having died on a cross to pay for the guilt you have earned by your life of unbelief in Him, your name will be written in a book in heaven, along with all those who have repented of their sin, and you will not be condemned and cast into a lake of fire.

Where ever you are, and who ever you are as of this moment, take a moment and examine your life that you are living.

This writer remembers a shocking statement made to me by a person as we discussed this issue. When I asked if they realized that they would stand before Jesus some day, and give an account of their life, I heard the statement “…I don’t believe there is anything after I die…when I’m dead I’m dead”.

What a terrible surprise is coming!

For every life that is lived, there are consequences. Some, in this life of some kind, but, the ultimate after death. All of us must stand before Jesus Christ and give an account of our belief, and our actions.

Now is the time to ask ourselves what we believe, and in whom we believe…if anyone. It is part of human nature to delay, and delay, and delay… perhaps the whole issue will just “go away”.

But the issue is an eternal issue…the consequences last for eternity.

A well-known commentary gives us the solution:

“Since everyone who goes before the great white throne is to be tried and sentenced for his deeds, and no one is sinless, the only way to escape condemnation and the “lake of fire” is to have one’s name in the “Book of Life” through authentic faith in Jesus as Lord “ (NASB Commentary)

Will you believe…and find real peace of mind?
