'Christ in You...'

Don't Neglect Such A Great Eternity
Date Posted: November 7, 2021

It is likely that millions of people have heard the gospel sufficiently to enable them to believe in Jesus Christ, and decide to surrender to Him to inherit eternal life. However, many of those over the centuries have proven by the fruits of their lives that they refused to follow through. There are probably thousands, perhaps millions, of reasons why.

Some just neglect their opportunity. Others simply say, as someone said to me not long ago, "well...I just never figured it was for me". It was for this person, who had apparently refused sufficient knowledge of the only hope for eternal life. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life - the only way to life for eternity. Life, as it is lived humanly, is a very temporary life, and so fleeting. Life in the world today is what happens to you while you are planning your future. All too soon the future is here. But where did your life go? It seems to still be in the planning stage - for the future (Luke 12:16-21).

From the instant that we are conceived in the womb, we begin the process of living. But the coin has two sides. From that instant when life begins, it also begins to die. Built within the body are organisms designed to cause the life in it to continue and grow. Also within the same body there are anti-life organisms fighting desperately to destroy those that are struggling to preserve life, and cause it to grow and expand.

This struggle continues unabated through birth, growth, maturity, middle age, old age. Finally, that compacted organism we call a human being dies. The anti-life elements are allowed to win. The whole activity ceases. The tiny messengers of destruction are allowed to win. The last state is death. Everything that was functioning and struggling and fighting within the body ceases (James 2:14).

This is a very depressing reality. But, we all need a taste of reality to cause us see the whole picture about this life, especially if you have not believed what your Creator says about your life - that if you will believe in His Son who came to earth, He will buy you back from the results of the battle that goes on within your body. The truth is, God designed you to die, so that He could give you an eternally new body. You and I were born to die so that we could have a far better life, and have it forever. Not immediately, but we are put together so that we may have sufficient time - time to be convinced about life, and receive enough experience in this life, gaining enough wisdom through that time to make the decision about what to do with the Jesus Christ as many millions have heard about.

However, when you die, it isn't over yet. In addition to this reality, what happens after you die, and your body returns to the dust?

There is a "spirit" in you that is a type of carbon copy of the total you that you were when you lived bodily. This belongs to God, and some day by His power, He will pull all the elements together again, and you must stand before Jesus Christ and personally give an account for everything you have done during that time span called life. This applies to ALL who have died since God created Adam and Eve. Contrary to what many have believed, humanity does not, as we say, get away with anything. It just seems that way while they live.

If you have experience a tug of your heart and mind, a small feeling of inclination, a small voice of urgency about what God has done for you through His Son, then you can believe in Him. There are those who cannot believe - at least not yet. There are many reasons people offer for ignoring, hesitating, or otherwise refusing the opportunity to live forever in peace, joy, safety, painlessness, with no more wrongs and harms, insecurities, and sorrows.

Do not keep refusing or neglecting to receive so great a future that God in Christ is offering you. If you are planning some day to give your life to Christ, you could find that your plan has exceeded your life.

Your time has expired. So has your plan.

"And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever! For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." - John 3:14-16 (AMP)
